KENNY CHA
Bassist, Guitarist, Composer, Educator, Band Leader,
Sound Engineer and Concert Production Manager
Kenny Cha is a versatile bassist, guitarist, composer, and band leader from Busan, South Korea, who got his musical career started at the age of 11.
In 2007, he got into Seoul Art College, S. Korea, at the age of 16 with full tuition scholarship. But, he was always craved to study with great musicians around the world, so he decided to move to US to study abroad.
In 2009, he moved to Boston, MA, started to study at Berklee College of Music with Richie Hart, Mick Goodrick, Ken Pullig, Tim Miller, and so on. He also studied at New England Conservatory for his Masters degree in jazz performance with Jerry Bergonzi, Miguel Zenón, Donny McCaslin, Brad Shepik, Jason Moran, and Dave Holland.
After he graduated NEC, he moved to NYC and released his own first debut album [Kenny Cha Group – Souvenirs de L’hiver] on Oct. 16th 2017. As a sideman, he played acoustic & electric guitar for composer duo group “Yellow Lights” 2nd and 6th digital single album, [Journey] (released on Oct. 11th 2018), [When The Night Comes] (released on July 17th, 2019).
He is making his own musical career in New York music scene and has been visited Europe, including Hungary, Germany, and other countries to have concerts and master classes to local musicians.
He currently lives in NYC, makes his own musical career and leading this own group, [Kenny Cha Group], and as a member of guitarist in [Rami Seo World Music Ensemble], [Inner City All–Stars Brass Band], [Ruby Wave]. [Boston Party Machine] and [Paige Russo Entertainment Band].
The artists’ role of his in the global society is that communicate with other musicians and their activities are the most efficient way to communicate through human’s emotion and to change one’s thought or maybe one’s life.
